There’s a Secret I’ve never told you
There are many things I love to do in life, but there’s one thing that all of my friends know about me…….and it’s time you do too.
Seriously, I LOVE to learn! I’m constantly learning new things and probably, I’d have to say, I do it daily. If I could get paid just to learn, I’d be a bajillionaire. I’m constantly finding online classes to take on a new software, or new design technique. I love tutorials on the next hottest machine that’s out there for crafting (or not crafting). I love to find out how things are made and how people make things turn out the way that they do. I wonder if there’s a name for that, or if it’s a disease?
I think it started with the example of my dad. I watched him all growing up making things. He’d weld things together, he’d build things, he’d fix things, he’d make up his own things…….all by himself. He never hired anyone to do any of it. And it was AMAZING!
Here are a few non-digital creations that I’m pretty proud of..and.. that I learned on my own how to do….
Do you see those lamp posts out there. Yep, I dug those holes, stained those posts, installed the lamp post, Completely, from start to finish: wired the lamp posts, with an outdoor waterproof plug at the bottom of each post, (so there’s no excuse for my husband to not install Christmas lights around each pole every year and, um, that still didn’t happen this year.) attached each lamp to the post….you get the drift. I am probably most proud of that one. That took a lot of learning!!
This light lavender shelving unit use to have a tv in that spot. That was fun!
That entry table use to be an old oak color. Which is fine, but it didn’t match what I was going for.
At First, this was a very empty, plain old white wall. I found a stone mantle on a thrift site for $25. and learned how to install it without having to tear out my carpet or remove the baseboard. Now I have a beautiful Faux fireplace. I’ve had many people tell me that they thought it was a real working fireplace. It’s awesome.
I guess you could say that google and I love each other a lot, well, at least I love google a lot. I truly believe that you can do anything you want to. I’ve taken this belief in every aspect of my life. If there’s anything I see in the world or online that I think is amazing and would love to learn how to do, I do just that. I figure it out. Sometimes it takes longer to do things this way, but I think it helps you to remember them better.
The Digital World and I are exactly the same. I’ve learned at least 6 adobe programs from my love of learning. It’s called….Philomath (one who is a lover of learning and study. A seeker of knowledge and facts). I don’t see it ending any time soon either. This new year has me in all sorts of excitement. I have so much to learn!
I’ll report back at a later date, but my latest ambition falls in the Cutting files realm. I am learning how to use a Silhouette Machine. I’m starting with This one, but hope to graduate soon to this machine. Currently, I’m learning how to turn my designs and prints into svg cutting files.
Please tell me I’m not alone here. Is there anyone out there who shares my love for learning as bad as I do?
